This unit is available to assist any fire department conducting a fire scene investigation. The team works on a mutual aid basis and members assist under the authority of the Fire Chief, Fire Investigator and/or the local assistant to the Fire Marshall's office.
The team is responsible to determine the point of origin and the cause of the fire. As soon as it becomes criminal in nature, police officials will be contacted.
There is no cost for the service, we ask that the department provide us with a meal if required and that photo finishing is your responsibility.
One important thing to keep in mind is that the fire scene must be kept secure until the team arrives.
